KCHA Run for the Paws 5K
The event takes place on February 28, 2026, at Nitro High School in Nitro, West Virginia, 25143. It is the third and final race of the Kanawha Valley 5K Winter Series. The Winter Series bundle includes the Race into the New Year Prediction 5K in Saint Albans (January 1, 2026) and the Dachshund through the Snow 5K in Charleston (January 25, 2026).

Participants in the 1 Mile Walk with a Shelter Dog are responsible for the dog's pick-up and drop-off from KCHA.
Registration and awards
Registration opens October 1, 2025. The published entry pricing schedule for the KCHA Run for the Paws 5K is: Oct 1 - Oct 31 = $25; Nov 1 - Dec 31 = $30; Jan 1 - Feb 22 = $35; Feb 23 - Feb 27 = $40; Race Day = $50.
Individual race awards are based on net times. Awards include Top 1 Male Overall and Top 1 Female Overall, plus Top 1 Male and Top 1 Female in these age divisions: 1-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.
