KCHA Run for the Paws 5K
The KCHA Run for the Paws 5K is scheduled for Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Nitro High School in Nitro, WV 25143. It is the third and final race in the Kanawha Valley 5K Winter Series. The event program includes the following distances and options:
- 5K Run
- 1 Mile Walk
- 1 Mile Walk with a Shelter Dog
Participants in the 1 Mile Walk with a Shelter Dog are responsible for the dog's pick-up and drop-off from KCHA.
Registration and fees
Registration opens October 1, 2025. Individual event pricing follows a tiered schedule: Oct 1 - Oct 31 = $25 Nov 1 - Dec 31 = $30 Jan 1 - Feb 22 = $35 Feb 23 - Feb 27 = $40 Race Day = $50

Awards
Awards are based on net times. The awards include: Top 1 Male Overall and Top 1 Female Overall. Top 3 Male and Top 3 Female in these age divisions: 1-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
