Run for the Parks 5K and associated events
The Chicago Parks Foundation presents the 4th Annual Run for the Parks at Burnham Park at 31st Street Beach, 3100 S Lake Shore Dr, Chicago. The main event is a timed out-and-back 5K on the Lakefront Trail path and the day also includes a guided nature walk and a kids dash.

The 5K course starts south of 31st Street Beach and runs south on the paved pedestrian pathway of the Lakefront Trail. The course is suitable for walkers, runners, and manual wheelchair participants of all paces. The course is not suited for bicycles, handcycles, or rollerblades. Accessibility guides are welcome.
The guided 1 mile nature walk follows the Burnham Wildlife Corridor and is led by Illinois Extension Master Naturalists. The walk takes place on a woodchip path just west of the Lakefront Trail and is not suitable for wheels. Guided walks occur during the 5K as an alternate activity.
Children 10 and under can participate in the Kid's Dash. Children who take part only in the Kid's Dash must be supervised before and after the dash. Children may also register for the 5K or the 1 mile nature walk.
All event registrations include a commemorative shirt, a finisher's medal, and a post-race food and beverage ticket. The event includes a post-race pancake party with food and drinks in the park. Registration fees listed by event are $40 for the 5K, $20 for the nature walk, and $10 for the Kid's Dash. Registration supports the Chicago Parks Foundation's work as a 501c3 community partner.
