Run for the Firies

Run for the Firies is an annual community fundraising event held on Sunday 25 October 2026 that supports the Research and Kangaroo Ground Volunteer Fire Brigades. The brigades are volunteer run and serve communities in Melbourne’s outer north-eastern suburbs. Funds raised contribute to firefighting equipment, member training and development, emergency response capability, and fire safety education for the local area.

The event offers multiple participation options and a virtual alternative. Registrations open 27 April. The organisers work with sponsors and community partners to cover event costs and maximise financial support for the two brigades. Volunteer opportunities are also promoted by the brigades for roles in firefighting, community education, and behind-the-scenes support; no prior experience is required.
