Run for the Elk Race Festival
Run for the Elk Race Festival is a multi-distance running event held in Emporium, Pennsylvania in July 2026. The event is based at E. 3rd and Chestnut St and the West Creek Industrial Trail in Emporium.
The festival offers multiple distances:
- Full Marathon : 26.2 Miles
- Half Marathon : 13.1 Miles
- 10K : 6.2 Miles
- 5K : 3.1 Miles
- Combo 5K and 10K option
Registration windows and fees vary by distance. Registration for the full and half marathon opened 14 August 2025 and closes 9 June 2026; fees for those events are listed at $80.00. Registration for the 10K, 5K and combo options opened 14 August 2025 and closes 23 July 2026; fees are listed at $40.00 for single 5K or 10K and $65.00 for the combo.
Entry fees include a medal and lanyard, a T-shirt and running ankle socks. Organizers provide a 10 percent veteran discount for service members and their families. Non-binary registration is available. First time half marathon and marathon finishers receive a commemorative plaque as well as a finisher’s medal; finishers should notify race staff at the finish to receive the plaque.
Organizers list the full marathon as a Boston Marathon qualifier and provide a certification number PA22019NP. Early start policy states there are no early starts for 5K or 10K; a single early start is available for half and full events one hour before the scheduled start, with no awards for early starts. Early start participants are advised to target a pace of about a 15 minute mile or slower and half marathon early starters who finish faster than 2 hours 15 minutes may not receive an official time.
A race weekend discount is offered through a promo arrangement with a Saturday companion event; participants who race both days receive an I Did The Double t-shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
