The event features a single distance: a 5K run/walk. The course is described as fast, flat, and paved, passing through the scenic Blue Star Memorial Woods Preserve. All proceeds from the event support Chicagoland Lab Rescue, a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing and re-homing dogs.
Participation and Features
Participants have the option to run or walk the course. Registration for the event is open to people aged 3 and over. The race is chip-timed and scored by J3 Timing, with results posted online. Registration includes a t-shirt, a finisher medal, a dog charm, a chip-timed race bib, live results, and treats at the finish line for humans and dogs. Participants may run or walk with a pet, provided the pet is on a short lead and is well-behaved. A virtual participation option is also available.
Awards and Series
Awards will be given to overall male and female finishers, as well as to the top three finishers in several age groups. The event is also part of a multi-race bundle called the "Double Dog Dare," which offers a discount for registering for multiple events in the series.
