About the race
Run for the Animals 5K is a timed community event held on October 4, 2026 at Karst Farm Park in Bloomington, Indiana. The course begins at Karst Farm Park and includes a loop through the Monroe County Fairgrounds. The event offers both an in-person 5K run and walk and a virtual 5K run/walk option. Proceeds benefit the Monroe County Humane Association and support its programs and services, including a nonprofit veterinary clinic, crisis housing, an emergency pet food and supply pantry, spay/neuter assistance, and street outreach.
Each registration includes an official Run for the Animals t-shirt. Registration for the in-person 5K has a fee of $30.00; the virtual 5K fee is $25.00. Registration opens January 1, 2026 and closes on the event date for each entry type per the organizer's schedule. Canine participation is permitted with specific requirements: dogs must be up to date on rabies vaccination, only one dog per registrant is allowed, only spayed or neutered dogs may participate, and all dogs must remain on a standard non-retractable leash for safety. Awards are presented across age and gender categories for the 5K, plus awards for top canine participants.
