Event overview
Run for the Animals is the 31st annual timed 5K run/walk held on October 4, 2026, at Karst Farm Park in Bloomington, IN. The event benefits the programs and services of the Monroe County Humane Association. The course starts at Karst Farm Park and loops through the Monroe County Fairgrounds. Each registration includes an official event t-shirt and sponsor swag. In 2026 the event introduced separate start times for runners and walkers. Awards and sponsor booths are located near the start/finish area, followed by raffles and pet contests.

- Virtual 5K Run/Walk - $25
Registration opens January 1, 2026. Preregistered packet pick-up is available on the day before the event and additional packet pick-up and onsite registration are available on race day. Results are posted after the awards ceremony.
Canine policy and awards
Well-behaved dogs are welcome; canine registration can be added to adult registrations. Dogs must be up to date on rabies vaccination, must be spayed or neutered, and must remain on a standard non-retractable leash. Award categories include overall and age-group placements for men, women, and youth, plus top canine awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
