Event Overview
The Run for the Animals 5K is a timed run/walk event. It is the 31st annual edition. All proceeds benefit the programs and services of the Monroe County Humane Association (MCHA).
Event Details
The event takes place at Karst Farm Park in Bloomington, Indiana. The 5K course starts at the park and loops through the Monroe County Fairgrounds. Separate start times for runners and walkers are planned. The awards ceremony and sponsor booths are located near the start/finish line. Post-race activities include raffles and pet contests, which are open to non-participants.
Registration and Participation
Registration includes an official event t-shirt and sponsor swag. The event welcomes runners, walkers, and canine participants. Dogs must be up to date on rabies vaccinations, be spayed or neutered, and remain on a standard, non-retractable leash at all times. Awards are given in multiple categories, including overall, age group, and canine divisions.
Supporting the Cause
The event supports MCHA's community programs, which include a nonprofit veterinary clinic, a crisis housing program, an emergency pet food pantry, and spay/neuter assistance. MCHA is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
