Run For The 97 5K
The 12th annual Run For The 97 5K takes place in Stanley Park, Liverpool on 23 May 2026. The event is a community legacy fun run that remembers The 97 and the families and survivors connected to the Hillsborough tragedy.
Participants can choose between two distances:
- 5K
- 1 Mile community legacy fun run
The 5K course starts in the middle of Stanley Park and follows park pathways. Around the 2 kilometre mark it exits the park and continues around the outside, passing Goodison Park, Priory Road and Arkles Lane on the approach to Anfield. The route passes the Eternal Flame at Anfield before returning to Stanley Park for the finish. A virtual option is available and virtual participants are invited to submit a selfie with their race number or medal for an online gallery.
Official charity partners include the 23 Foundation, LFC Foundation, and Stanley Park junior parkrun. The event has raised more than £35,000 for charity since it began in 2015. Entry places are limited to 2,500. Items listed for participants include a finisher’s goody bag, a finisher T-shirt for 5K entrants, and an event medal.
