Run For The 97 5K in Liverpool
The Run For The 97 5K returns to Stanley Park and Garden, Liverpool on 29 May 2027. The event offers two distances:
- 5K
- 1 Mile Community Legacy Fun Run
Entries are available for in-person and virtual participation. Virtual entrants from the UK and overseas receive an event T-shirt and commemorative medal by post; international virtual entries close 19 April 2027 and UK virtual entries close 4 May 2027. Organisers note mailed items cannot be guaranteed to arrive before 29 May.
The 5K course begins in the middle of Stanley Park and follows park pathways. Around 2 kilometres it leaves the park to follow the outside route past Goodison Park, Priory Road and Arkles Lane toward Anfield. The route passes the Eternal Flame on Anfield Road, then turns back into Stanley Park to finish.
The event was established in 2015 as a community legacy run to remember the 97 Liverpool fans who died at Hillsborough. It includes a tribute to a Liverpool Football Club supporter who recently passed away. Official charity partners for the event include Jamie Carragher’s 23 Foundation, LFC Foundation and Stanley Park junior parkrun. Since its founding the event has raised more than £35,000 for charity.
Practical details include an entry limit of 2,500, age limits of 11 years and up for the 5K and 3 years and up for the 1 mile, and items provided for participants such as finisher goody bags, a 5K T-shirt and a commemorative medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
