Run For The 97 5K

The Run For The 97 5K is a community legacy event established to remember the 97 people who lost their lives at the Hillsborough stadium in 1989, as well as the survivors of the event. The 2026 edition marks the 12th year of this commemorative run. Proceeds and awareness from the event support local community charities, including the LFC Foundation, 23 Foundation, and Junior Parkrun.

The event takes place on the final Saturday of the Premier League football season. During the event, participants have exclusive use of Stanley Park for the duration of the runs. In addition to the physical event in the park, virtual participation options are available for both UK and international runners.
