Run For The 97 5K
Run For The 97 is an annual community legacy event held in Stanley Park and Garden, Liverpool on 29 May 2027. The event offers two distances for participants to walk, jog or run:
- 5K
- 1 Mile community fun run
The 5K course starts in the middle of Stanley Park, follows park pathways, exits to run past Goodison Park, Priory Road and Arkles Lane toward Anfield, passes the Eternal Flame, then returns to Stanley Park for the finish. The event commemorates the 97 Liverpool fans who died at Hillsborough on 15 April 1989 and honours families and survivors.
Entries are limited to 2,500. Age minimums apply: the 5K is for ages 11 and up; the 1 Mile fun run is for ages 3 and up. In-person 5K entrants receive a finisher goody bag, an exclusive Run For The 97 finisher T-shirt, and a commemorative medal. Virtual entrants worldwide receive the event T-shirt and medal by post; postal items will be sent ahead of the event but arrival before 29 May cannot be guaranteed. Virtual entry deadlines are 19 April 2027 for international entries and 4 May 2027 for UK entries.
The event supports charity fundraising and has raised more than £35,000 since it was first staged in 2015. Race number collection information is provided to entrants, with arrangements for overseas postal addresses. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
