ASHRAE Run for Research 5K
The Run for Research 5K is an athletic event organized by the ASHRAE National Capital Chapter in Fairfax, Virginia. ASHRAE is an international society founded in 1894 that focuses on building systems, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and sustainability within the heating, refrigerating, and air-conditioning industry. The event is open to members of the community, who are invited to run or walk alongside chapter members and volunteers.

The course is located at the Fairfax Corner Shopping Center. All proceeds from the event directly support the local chapter's contribution to ASHRAE research. This research, which the society has sponsored since 1960, is used to develop industry standards, prepare technical handbooks, and train university students preparing for careers in the HVAC&R industry.
Participants who register for the race receive a commemorative performance shirt. Registration is conducted exclusively online and remains open until the morning of the event. Packet pickup is available on the day prior to the race at a local running store in Burke, as well as at the Fairfax Corner Plaza on the morning of the event.
