Run for Reconciliation (RunRemRec) - 6th Annual
The event takes place on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, beginning at Lions Park in St. Albert and finishing at the St. Albert Healing Garden. It is a community run/walk to raise awareness about the children of Residential Schools and the intergenerational trauma experienced by survivors. The event emphasizes acknowledging colonial history and its ongoing effects.
The route is marked. Participants receive an orange ribbon to carry during the walk/run and may tie the ribbon around the gazebo posts at the Healing Garden. Cards and markers are available for leaving messages with the ribbon. Indigenous dancers, drummers, and guest speakers are part of the program. Photographs and video will be taken and may be used by the event team.
Practical information noted by the organizers includes dogs allowed on leash, free parking beside Lions Park, paid parking across the street, and on-site bathrooms at the start. One hundred percent of funds raised at the event will go to Poundmaker's Lodge Treatment Centres. The organizers respectfully acknowledge that the event is held on Treaty 6 territory, traditional lands of First Nations and Métis peoples.
