Run for Calgary
Run for Calgary is an annual fundraising event organized by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community to raise funds and awareness for non-profit and social organizations in Calgary. This edition is in support of the Jasper Wildfires.
The event brings together serious and casual runners and walkers from across Calgary. Participants often attend with family and enjoy day-of festivities. The event was first held in 2010 and has continued as an annual gathering since then.
Past fundraising highlights include CA$25,000 raised in 2010 and 2011 for the Genesis Centre of Community Wellness, collaboration beginning in 2012 with the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation that has resulted in more than CA$150,000 raised for that hospital, and more than CA$35,000 raised over the past two years in support of Canadian Blood Services. Similar Run for events take place elsewhere in Canada, including Run for Bradford and Run for Vaughan, the latter having raised approximately CA$500,000 for the Vaughan Hospital Project.
