10th Run A Way Dryland Derby
The 10th Run A Way Dryland Derby is a three day dryland mushing event held October 9 to 11, 2026 at Christiansen Field Aerodrome in De Winton, Alberta (226039 Range Rd 12). The event is AAHDS sanctioned and IFSS accredited. Registration is open from September 1 to October 7, 2026. AAHDS members receive a 10% discount with a required discount code.
The event uses a trail map unchanged since 2023–2025. Participant starts are seeded and competition includes a mid competition break of about 15 minutes as determined by timers and hosts. Mandatory drivers meetings will be held during the weekend; the 4 dog rig class requires safety tie off lines and mandatory meetings both days.
Distances
- Standard: 4.8 km
- Sprint: 2.7 km (Sprint refers to track length only and not to an expectation of speed)
Competitive classes (standard distance) include 4 dog rig, 1 dog scooter, 2 dog scooter, 1 dog bike, 2 dog bike and canicross. Developmental non competitive classes (sprint distance) run Friday and Saturday and include 1 or 2 dog scooter, 1 or 2 dog bike and canicross; a developmental 4 dog rig is Friday only. One day entries are available for developmental classes.
On site practical details note dry camping available for Friday and Saturday with no hookups and an outhouse, helmets mandatory except in canicross, dogs must be leashed or secured, the track is closed to recreation for the weekend, and limited cash entries are available on site for developmental classes.
