About the race
Ruby’s 5 km Fun Run takes place on Saturday November 7th, 2026 and serves as a fundraiser for NorthGate Trail Head Maintenance. The event is held in remembrance of Ruby, a dachshund who passed away in August 2024; organizers note it would take Ruby 100,000 steps to cover 5 km.
The run is based at NorthGate Trail Head, located 12 km south of Dauphin, MB on Highway 10. The event aims to encourage nighttime trail running and hiking. Participants are expected to use headlamps or flashlights to light the trails. Trail conditions may vary from dry to snow covered and reflect mild fall to early winter weather. All dogs must be on leashes.
Registration is available online until Saturday November 7th, 2026 and onsite at the event. Early pricing runs from Oct 1 to Oct 25 at $20.00 plus GST. Regular registration is $35.00 plus GST. Onsite registration is $40.00. Dogs and children aged 10 and under are free. No refunds or transfers are allowed.
A post-run gathering is planned at Obsolete Brewing Co in Dauphin. The brewery address is 24 2nd Avenue North West, Dauphin MB. Attendees receive one complimentary beer or soda and dogs are welcome at the venue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
