RTR 5K for Recovery Run/Walk - Shining a Light on Mental Health
The RTR 5K for Recovery is the second annual 5K event presented by Recovery Through Repetition, a nonprofit that supports people affected by addiction through fitness classes, community opportunities, and scholarships. The event is held in May during Mental Health Awareness Month and focuses on raising funds and awareness for those in recovery while highlighting the relationship between movement and mental well-being.
The main event is a 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles). A Sleep In option is available for supporters who cannot attend in person; participants choosing that option receive a cotton t-shirt and a finisher medal by mail, do not submit a time, and are not eligible for awards. Registration for the in-person and Sleep In options carried a fee of $40.00.
Awards are planned for Top 3 Overall male and female, Top 3 Masters male and female, and the top three male and female finishers in age groups starting with 10 and under, 11-15, 16-19, then ten-year groups up to 80 and over. Finisher medals are provided to everyone who crosses the finish line. Event timing is handled by Accuchip Timing.
The event location is the Boca Raton Innovation Campus in Boca Raton, Florida. Organizers note there is free parking at the start area and on-site directions from Yamato Road onto T-Rex Avenue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
