ROUT Classic 100 Miles : concise event profile
The ROUT Classic 100 Miles is an ultra trail race held each October in the Rhodope mountain range in northern Greece. The course is a circular route of 182 km with about +9000 m positive elevation gain, running mostly on singletrack paths (approximately 67%), with forest roads (32%) and a small share of paved road (1%). The common start and finish location is the Forest Village "Erymanthos" in the Haidous area.
The race uses 25 control points and six aid stations located along the route. The official time limit for a valid finish is 46 hours. The event limits participation to 150 athletes. Eligibility requires a minimum age of 20 years and documented experience: at least one finish in a trail race over 80 km (50 miles) within the last three calendar years. Registration fee is 170.00 euros.
The organisation provides partial race feeding at the six aid stations, pre- and post-race meals, a finisher medal, bib, medical support and transfer from aid stations back to the finish for athletes who abandon. Competitors must carry mandatory survival equipment; the prescribed kit includes items such as an waterproof jacket, foil blanket, headlamp with spare batteries, mobile phone, basic first aid kit, whistle, long tights, gloves and other specified items.
