Roots Rock Run 5K
The Roots Rock Run 5K is a hybrid athletic event that supports the GrassROOTS Community Foundation and its global menstrual equity initiatives. The proceeds from the event are used to provide menstrual supplies, increase educational knowledge, and advocate for legislation to address period poverty in several countries, including the United States, Jamaica, Ghana, South Africa, and Kenya.
Participants have the option to join the event in person or virtually. The live portion of the event takes place at Lloyd Hall along Boathouse Row in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Virtual participants may complete their distance from any location globally using the Racejoy App or by manually submitting results online.
The event offers the following distances:
- 5K (Live or Virtual)
- 1 Mile Walk (Live or Virtual)
The first 50 registered participants across both the live and virtual categories receive a commemorative t-shirt. For those competing in the live race in Philadelphia, the first-place finisher receives two tickets to the Roots Picnic. Additionally, the top three winners are awarded special foundation t-shirts.
Participants can track their preparation and connect with the community via Strava. The registration process allows for individual entries or group registrations handled in a single transaction. Early registration pricing is available for those who sign up before the end of March. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
