Root Beer 5K, Avon MN
The Root Beer 5K is a community running event held in Avon, Minnesota, with additional youth races and a post-race root beer float offering. The event is hosted by Avon Community Church and proceeds benefit students at Avon Elementary School. The venue address is 204 Avon Ave N, Avon, MN 56310.
The main race is a 5-kilometer course that starts and ends at Avon Community Church, travels through the city of Avon, and includes an out-and-back segment on the Lake Wobegon Trail. The course is described as flat for the trail portion, will be clearly marked, and will have volunteers positioned along the route. A staffed water stop is located approximately halfway. Awards are planned for the top finisher in each of three age divisions: 20 and under, 21 to 39, and 40 and above. Race day packet pickup is scheduled before the race.
Two youth events are included: a free Kids Fun Run for children age 10 and under, held on the grounds of Avon Elementary School and Avon Community Church with volunteer supervision and the option for parents to run with younger children; and a free Toddler Trot held on the grass near the finish line. Registration for the 5K requires a fee of $20; the youth events are free. Registration open and close dates are published by the organizer.
