Lake Wobegon Trail Marathon
The Lake Wobegon Trail Marathon is a USATF certified race covering 26.2 miles along the paved Lake Wobegon Trail. The trail follows a former rail line and provides a smooth, flat surface through the heart of Stearns County, Minnesota.
The course starts at Holdingford High School in Holdingford and finishes at the Trail Facility in St. Joseph, passing through the towns of Albany and Avon. The route has minimal elevation change and a gentle net downhill, and it is a Boston Marathon qualifier. The trail runs past farmland, lakes, and a designated nature area and is free of traffic from motor vehicles.
The event is organized by the St. Cloud River Runners, a local running club active since 1983. Support along the course includes aid stations stocked for runners and volunteers and residents who provide on-course assistance and encouragement.
