ROO Last Man Standing

ROO Last Man Standing is a backyard ultra held on nearly 2,000 acres of private ranch land at Ponderosa Ranch in Clancy, Montana. The event starts and finishes at the Dutchman Creek Events Center and takes place at the edge of the Elkhorn Mountains, with a course that returns to a central race hub where runners can refuel and prepare for the next loop.

The format follows the classic Last Man Standing backyard ultra. Runners begin a 4.2 mile loop each hour and must complete the loop within that hour to earn the right to start the next one. If a runner misses the start or fails to meet the cutoff, they are out. The race continues until only one runner remains; the final runner must complete one final loop alone. There is no set distance or overall time limit.

The loop is run entirely on private ranch property and includes a mix of ranch roads and trail terrain with open views of the surrounding mountains. Each runner may have up to four crew members. A designated crew area will allow small tents, chairs, coolers, and personal support stations. Runners are responsible for bringing sufficient food, hydration, and gear for the race duration.

The last runner standing wins a $10,000 prize. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
