ROO Last Man Standing

ROO Last Man Standing is a backyard ultra held on nearly 2,000 acres of private land at Ponderosa Ranch in Clancy, Montana. The event starts and finishes at the Dutchman Creek Events Center and takes place at the edge of the Elkhorn Mountains, with a central race hub where runners return after each loop.

The race follows the classic Last Man Standing backyard ultra format. Every hour, runners begin a 4.2 mile loop. Runners must complete the loop within the hour to earn the right to start the next one; finishing early provides the remaining time to rest. If a runner misses the start or the hourly cutoff, they are out. The race continues until one runner remains and that final runner completes one final loop alone. There is no set overall distance.

The course is a single 4.2 mile loop run entirely on private ranch property, with a mix of ranch roads and trail terrain and sweeping views of the Elkhorn Mountains. Each loop returns to the central hub for refueling and rest between hours. Loops occur through day and night.

The last runner standing wins a $10,000 prize. Each runner may have up to four crew members and a designated crew area for small tents, chairs, coolers, and personal support stations. Runners are responsible for bringing sufficient food, hydration, and gear for the duration of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
