ROO Last Man Standing

ROO Last Man Standing is a backyard ultra held on nearly 2,000 acres of private land at Ponderosa Ranch in Clancy, Montana, with the event centered at Dutchman Creek Events Center. The course is a 4.2 mile loop run entirely on ranch property and combines ranch roads and trail terrain with views of the Elkhorn Mountains. Each loop returns to a central race hub where runners can rest and refuel.

The format follows the classic Last Man Standing rules. Every hour runners begin the loop; completing the loop within the hour allows a runner to start the next one. If a runner misses the start or misses the hourly cutoff they are out. The event continues until only one runner completes a final solo loop and is declared the last person remaining. There is no set distance and no overall time limit.

Each runner may have up to four crew members. A designated crew area allows small tents, chairs, coolers, and personal support stations. While some race supplies may be available, runners are responsible for bringing sufficient food, hydration, and gear for the duration of the event. Backyard ultras can extend beyond traditional race distances, so planning and crew strategy are important in addition to fitness. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
