Roller Coaster Recce Run by DTR
The Dandenongs Trail Runners are hosting a free practice run along the Rollercoaster Trail. The event starts and finishes at Kalorama Memorial Reserve, Mount Dandenong Tourist Road, Kalorama, Victoria, Australia. It is intended as a recce in the lead up to the Rollercoaster Trail Run and is organised as a self-supported outing.
Participants are encouraged to carry all mandatory gear and treat the recce like race day. On-course support that will be available on the official race day is not provided for this practice run.
Run options include:
- 8 km Local Loop
- 12 km Loop (Mad Mouse)
- 23 km Loop (Original)
- Approx 17 km 23 km minus Dodds Track
For the 23 km loop, sign-ups are invited to join one of four pace groups: Wombats (slow) aiming for three hours thirty minutes to four hours, Possums (medium) aiming for three hours to three hours thirty minutes, Kangaroos (fast) aiming for two hours forty minutes to three hours, and Emus (super fast) aiming for under two hours thirty minutes.
The organising group provides further information on course maps, mandatory gear, toilets, water, on-course support and aid stations, shoe recommendations, nutrition, use of poles, abandoning the run and ambulance cover. Dogs are not permitted in the Dandenong Ranges National Park. Registration places are limited for some options and the organiser requests attendees RSVP.
