About the race
The Rocky Mountain 5K presented by School District 11 takes place on August 29, 2026 at America the Beautiful Park in Colorado Springs. The event is organized in partnership with the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region and the Colorado Springs Sports Corp.
Distances:
- 3.1 Miles out and back on the Pikes Peak Greenway trail
- 1K Sasquatch Shuffle for children 12 and under, free participation
The 5K course is mostly flat and follows an out-and-back route heading north on the Pikes Peak Greenway trail to a 1.55 mile turnaround. Each participant receives a swag item. The top three male and female finishers overall and the top three male and female finishers in each 5-year age division earn medals; age divisions run from 9 and under through 90 and over.
Dogs may run alongside registered humans with a Furry Friend add-on; dogs must be leashed, current on vaccinations, and cleaned up after by their human companion. Furry Friends receive a dog bandana.
Registration fees vary by date and category. Adult and youth pricing tiers and early bird rates are specified for March through August dates. Sasquatch Shuffle for ages 12 and under is free. Packet pick up is available the day before at the Downtown YMCA and race morning next to the start area. Limited free parking is available near the north end of the park and additional parking is listed off S. Sierra Madre St. Ticket sales are final; refunds are not issued for weather or other events beyond the organizer's control, though credits or transfers may be offered case by case with written refund requests considered within 14 days after the event.
