Event Overview
The Rocky Mountain 5K is an out-and-back run/walk on a mostly flat course. It is the official 5K of the Rocky Mountain State Games.
Location and Course
The event starts at America the Beautiful Park in Colorado Springs. The route goes north on the Pikes Peak Greenway trail for 1.55 miles before turning around and heading back.
Events and Activities
Two events are offered:
- Rocky Mountain 5K: A 5K run/walk.
- Sasquatch Shuffle Kid's 1K: A 1K event for kids 12 and under, which is free. Participants in this event receive a finisher ribbon.
All 5K participants receive a swag item. Dogs are welcome to run with a registered participant in a designated "Furry Friend" wave; they must be leashed, have current shots, and be well-behaved. A dog bandana is provided for them.
Awards
A medal ceremony is held near the DJ in the Vendor Village. The top three overall male and female finishers are recognized, followed by division winners.
Logistics
Free parking is available in limited spaces across from the north end of the park off Cimino Drive, with additional parking off S. Sierra Madre Street. Accessible parking is along Cimino Drive.
Packet pick-up is available at the Downtown YMCA in Colorado Springs on the Friday before the race, and near the start line on race morning. A QR code from registration confirmation is recommended for faster pick-up. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
