Event Details

The Rocket to the Moon 5k is held on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in Wapakoneta, Ohio. The event is based at the Auglaize County Fairgrounds (1001 Fairview Dr.).

Course

The course starts and finishes at the Auglaize County Fairgrounds. It winds through Wapakoneta, which is noted as the hometown of the first human on the Moon. The route uses paved roads and is described as mostly flat.

Events

The event includes three separate activities:

5k Run/Walk – Registration opens on March 15, 2026.
Kids 1-Mile Fun Run – Registration opens on March 15, 2026.
Virtual 5k – Registration opens on March 15, 2026. Virtual results can be submitted between July 3 and July 9, 2026.

Moon City Challenge

Participants can register for a separate "Moon Series" challenge. Completing all three designated races (Moonlight Glow Run on June 20, Rocket to the Moon Run on July 4, and Run to the Moon on July 18) earns an extra Moon Challenge Medal.
