10th Annual Road Home Race
The Road Home Race is a multi-distance running event held in Wichita, Kansas. Now in its tenth year, the event takes place within Sedgwick County Park with all races starting and ending at the Plum Building. The event serves as a fundraiser for the organization Passageways, which supports veterans transitioning from homelessness into stable housing.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 10 km timed run
- 5 km route for running, walking, or strollers
- 1 mile fun run and walk
The courses are USATF-certified and professional timing services are provided for the competitive segments. The event features patriotic elements, including American flags along portions of the race route, a Presentation of Colors, and the singing of the National Anthem. Each participant receives a race bib featuring the name of a fallen military hero, a veteran, or a currently serving military member. Registrants have the option to provide a specific name for their bib during the sign-up process.
In addition to the physical races at the park, a virtual option allows individuals to participate in any of the three distances from other locations. There is also an option to sponsor registration fees for other runners or walkers. Packet pick-up is scheduled for the Friday preceding the event at the Plum Building. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
