River’s Edge Trail Half Marathon
The River’s Edge Trail Half Marathon takes place on September 26, 2026 in Eldora, Iowa. The course is a 13.1 mile paved loop that begins and ends at Memorial Park near the Eldora Welcome Center and Railroad Museum. The route follows the River’s Edge Trail to Steamboat Rock and returns through Pine Lake State Park.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to the continued progress on the River’s Edge Trail. The event includes two entry options: a half marathon run and a half marathon walk. All pre-registered finishers, runners and walkers, will receive custom locally crafted wooden finisher medals made in Eldora at the Backwoods Gallery. Top awards will be presented to the overall top two male and female finishers only; awards are not separated by runners and walkers or by age groups.
Packet pick-up is offered on the Friday evening before the race and on the morning of the event; registered participants will receive an email with details. Parking for participants and spectators is available just west of Memorial Park at the Hardin County Fair Grounds; Park Street will be closed and fair grounds access is from the west side on 11th Avenue. Restrooms are available at Memorial Park and the Welcome Center, and there will be multiple bathroom and water station locations along the route staffed by volunteers.
Post race grab and go refreshments will be provided, and a warm breakfast of pancakes and sausage will be served at the Memorial Park shelter. The meal is included with registration and the public may join with a freewill donation to the local Kiwanis Club. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
