Event Overview
The River’s Edge Trail Half Marathon takes place in Eldora, Iowa, featuring a 13.1 mile paved loop course. The route leads participants through the Iowa River Greenbelt, following the River’s Edge Trail to Steamboat Rock. The return journey passes through Pine Lake State Park, concluding back in Eldora. The start and finish lines are located at Memorial Park on the east side of the city, near the Eldora Welcome Center and Railroad Museum.
The event offers two registration categories for participants:
- 13.1 Miles (Half Marathon-Run): For those who plan to run or utilize a run-walk method.
- 13.1 Miles (Half Marathon-Walk): Reserved exclusively for participants who will walk the entire distance.
Course and Amenities
The route features various cheering points for spectators and multiple water stations staffed by volunteers. Public restrooms are available at the start and finish area within Memorial Park and the Welcome Center, with additional facilities located along the course.
Registered finishers receive locally crafted wooden medals produced in Eldora. Awards are presented to the overall top two male and female finishers, without distinction between age groups or participation categories.
Logistics and Post-Race
Participants can pick up their race packets on the Friday evening prior to the event or on the morning of the race. Parking is provided west of Memorial Park at the Hardin County Fair Grounds, accessible from 11th Avenue.
Following the event, recovery refreshments including chocolate milk, Gatorade, bananas, and granola bars are provided. A fresh breakfast of pancakes and sausage is served at the Memorial Park shelter for all registered participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
