Event Overview
The Riverbend Ultras 12 HR/50K is a distance-running event held at the River Pavilion on Picnic Island within Riverbend Park. The course takes participants through natural surroundings in Jupiter, Florida, featuring gravel trails and a section of the Lake to Ocean Trail. The terrain passes along the Loxahatchee River under a canopy of oaks and cabbage palms, where local wildlife such as deer, turkeys, turtles, and birds are frequently observed.
Distance Options
Participants can choose from three distinct formats:
- 12-Hour: Runners complete as many 3.25-mile loops as possible within the allotted time.
- 50K: A fixed-distance race totaling 31.2 miles, consisting of two .85-mile loops and nine 3.25-mile loops.
- Fun Run: A non-timed participation option that includes a medal.
Logistics and Support
This event follows a "fat-ass" style format, meaning participants are responsible for their own personal support and nutrition throughout the day. While runners manage themselves, the community is encouraged to contribute to a potluck of snacks and treats. There is ample space at the River Pavilion for participants to set up for the duration of the event.
Proceeds from the race, beyond basic overhead costs, are donated to the local Florida Trail Association chapter. While there are no refunds, registrations can be deferred to the following year if a participant is unable to attend. Trophies are awarded to the first-place male and female finishers in the 50K and 12-Hour categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
