Event overview
RIVER THAMES RUN takes place at Wraysbury Skiff and Punting Club, Riverside, Egham TW20 0AA. The event is a time-limited challenge held over six hours. Participants may complete distances from a 5k up to ultramarathon distance within the six-hour limit; a last lap may be started up to 5:59:59. The event is licensed by the TRA and run under UKA Athletics rules. The next scheduled race date is 31/12/2025.
Course and distances
The route is an out-and-back 3.28 miles course along the River Thames. A 5k option uses an earlier turn point. A 10k is two laps of the 5k route. Distances and age maximums:
- 5 km option available via earlier turn point
- 10 km equals two 5 km laps
- Six-hour challenge allows longer distances up to ultra distance
- Age 12-13 years: 5,000 m maximum
- Age 14-15 years: 6,000 m maximum
- Age 16 years: 10,000 m maximum
- Age 17 years: 25,000 m maximum
- Age 18-19 years: 45,000 m maximum
- Age 20 and over: no maximum distance
Facilities and event operations
Toilets and changing facilities are available at the rowing club. There is no official bag drop; bags can be left next to the start-finish line at participants’ own risk. On-site parking is available at Runnymede Pleasure Grounds; parking requires payment. An aid table will be provided at the end of each lap offering water, squash, fizzy drinks, and a variety of food.
