River Thames Half Marathon
The River Thames Half Marathon is a long-distance running event held in the Surrey towns of Walton-on-Thames and Weybridge. The race features a half marathon distance and is held under Run England race licence rules. The start and finish lines are located at Walton Bridge.
The route is flat and largely traffic-free, following the River Thames towpath from Walton-on-Thames to Hampton Court Bridge. This course offers views of the non-tidal section of the river. Due to its flat terrain, the race is often used by participants as a preparation event for autumn marathons in cities such as New York, Valencia, or Florence.
Participants receive several items and services as part of their entry:
- Half marathon (21.1 km) distance with chip timing
- Bespoke finisher medal
- Well-stocked goody bag
- Free race photography
- Personalised digital race certificate
The event is managed with the support of marshals positioned along the course. The race also provides access to free training plans and advice for those preparing for the distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
