River Roux Olympic Triathlon
The River Roux Olympic Triathlon takes place in New Roads, Louisiana on October 10, 2026. The event uses False River and the adjacent green space and transition area near the floating dock and 211 West Main Street. Entries are limited to 300 competitors.
Race formats include Olympic distance triathlon, aquabike, duathlon and relay divisions. The Olympic triathlon distances combine a 1.5K swim, a 40K bike and a 10K run. A finish fest and awards presentation are held in the green space across from transition.
Swim course details: the swim is a clockwise double loop that begins and ends at the floating dock. A designated swim warm up area will be available with safety personnel managing that area. Athletes enter and exit False River at the floating dock and are staged along the grass behind the ramp. The swim uses a self-seeded, time trial start with swimmers entering the water one at a time every three seconds. Safety craft will be on the water; athletes may hold kayaks or paddle boards to rest but may not use them to gain forward progress.
Bike course details: an out and back route around False River. Roads on the bike course remain open to traffic; police and volunteers will staff major intersections. Course turns are signed to the right and marked with orange road markings. SAG vehicles provide assistance for minor mechanical issues.
Run course notes: final route details are pending. The course will include four to five aid stations supplying water, Powerade and gels. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
