Rise & Run for Recovery
Rise & Run for Recovery is an Overdose Awareness 5K run/walk organized by the Lake County Opioid Initiative with community partners. It takes place on 08/30/2026 at Hastings Forest Preserve, 21155 W. Gelden Road, Lake Villa, IL 60046. The event is dedicated to remembering people lost to overdose, supporting those in recovery, and raising awareness about the opioid crisis.
The event includes a 5K (3.1 miles) run/walk and a community program with activities, a resource fair, speakers, a moment of silence and a memorial reading, and a recovery celebration. The setting is family friendly and dog friendly (on-leash), and food vendors will be present.
A registration fee of $30 is listed for the 5K. Registrations completed on or after 08/14 may be decreased in price and may not include an event T-shirt. A T-shirt pick up will be offered on 08/28 at the College of Lake County campus in Grayslake, Room A013, and T-shirts will also be available for pickup on the day of the event.
All proceeds go to the Lake County Opioid Initiative, a 501(c)(3) organization that works to prevent substance use disorder and overdose and to strengthen pathways to recovery and community wellness.
