Rise & Run for Recovery
Rise & Run for Recovery is an Overdose Awareness 5K Run/Walk held at Hastings Forest Preserve, 21155 W. Gelden Road, Lake Villa, IL. The event is organized by the Lake County Opioid Initiative and community partners to remember those lost to overdose, support people in recovery, and raise awareness about the opioid crisis.
The event includes a community resource fair with information and giveaways from partnering organizations, and food trucks on site. The program provides a space for reflection and connection for families and community members. The event is family friendly and dog friendly, with dogs required to remain on leash.
Registration for the run/walk includes an event t-shirt and participation at the resource fair. T-shirt pick-up is offered in advance via a drive-thru option and also on the day of the event. All proceeds support the Lake County Opioid Initiative, a 501(c)(3) organization that leads county-wide efforts to prevent substance use disorder and overdose and to strengthen pathways to recovery and community wellness.
The event purpose highlights honoring lives lost to overdose, promoting education to reduce stigma around substance use disorder, and uniting community organizations, families, and residents in remembrance and action. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
