Event Details
The Ricky 267 5K Run/Walk & Kids Fun Run is a community event held in Union City, New Jersey. The primary purpose of the event is to honor and memorialize fallen officers of the Union City Police Department from the period 2016-2022.
Event Features
The event includes two main activities:
- A 5K Run/Walk with a registration fee of $30.
- A Kids Fun Run with a $10 fee payable on the day of the race.
Awards are given to the overall first, second, and third place male and female finishers in the 5K. There are also prizes for children participating in the fun run. A T-shirt is guaranteed for all participants who register before the event. Race day registration is available, and the event takes place rain or shine. Results are managed by CompuScore.
Location and Logistics
The event starts and finishes at Washington Park, located at the corner of 2nd Street and Palisade Avenue in Union City. Packet pick-up occurs at the same location on the day of the race. Street parking is available. The start area is noted as being an easy walk from the 9th Street Light Rail elevator in Hoboken, near the border of Jersey City Heights.
Background and Beneficiaries
The event was first held in 2017. It is supported by the PBA #8 and FOP in alliance with the Union City Police Department. Proceeds from the event go toward a scholarship for a Union City High School senior pursuing a career in law enforcement, in memory of the honored officers.
