Boxer Brief 5K & Virtual Challenge
The Boxer Brief 5K is an annual event held in Richmond, Virginia, that focuses on raising awareness for colorectal cancer prevention. The onsite activities take place at City Stadium, the home field of the Richmond Kickers. The event features multiple distance options and activity formats to accommodate different types of participants.
The primary onsite race is a timed 5K run and walk. The all-terrain course begins within the stadium complex and travels through the surrounding Windsor Farms area, featuring a few small hills. In addition to the standard run, the event recognizes fastest duos, including those running with strollers or dogs.
Several youth-focused events are held on the professional soccer field:
- 4 Yards: A crawling competition for infants under one year old.
- 20 Yards: A short race for toddlers aged one and two.
- 1K: A fun run and sprint for children aged six and under.
A Global Virtual Challenge is available for those who cannot attend in person or wish to participate over the entire weekend. This untimed option allows participants to accumulate miles through various activities such as running, swimming, biking, hiking, or playing pickleball.
The event includes music, games, and costume competitions. Awards are presented for individual performance across age groups, as well as team categories such as Best Team Costume and Largest Social Team. Proceeds support screening and educational services for colorectal cancer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
