Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race (2026)
The Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race takes place September 26 to 27, 2026 in Pittsburgh. The event program includes a 10K race, a 5K run/walk, a running clinic and the Great Race Expo. It is described as the largest 10K race in Pennsylvania.
The Dollar Bank Junior Great Race offers youth-focused activities including a Family Fun Run, Tot Trot and Diaper Dash, with participating children receiving a medal and shirt. A One GREAT Challenge option is also part of the weekend program.
Each year the event donates $1 from every Great Race and Dollar Bank Junior Great Race registration to the Richard S. Caliguiri Amyloidosis Fund at the Pittsburgh Foundation; for 2026, $5 from every One GREAT Challenge registration will be donated. The weekend concludes with an awards ceremony and a raffle on September 27.
The race began in 1977 as a community run established by then-mayor Richard S. Caliguiri. Since its inception, nearly a half million people have participated in the Great Race, a long-running event in the Pittsburgh running calendar.
