Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race
The Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race is a multi-day running event held September 26-27, 2026. The program includes a main 10K race noted as the largest 10K in Pennsylvania, a 5K run/walk, a running clinic, an expo, and youth events under the Dollar Bank Junior Great Race banner.
The Junior Great Race offers several youth-oriented activities, including a Family Fun Run, Tot Trot, and Diaper Dash, with participants receiving a medal and shirt. The event also features an awards ceremony and raffle on September 27 to honor winners and distribute raffle prizes to runners and walkers.
The race has been held annually since 1977 and reports nearly half a million total participants across its history. Community and charitable components are part of the program: each Great Race and Junior Great Race registration contributes one dollar to the Richard S. Caliguiri Amyloidosis Fund, and for 2026 five dollars from every One GREAT Challenge registration will be donated. The event includes a volunteer program and is supported by multiple local and regional sponsors.
