Reykjavik Marathon
The Reykjavik Marathon is an annual running event held in downtown Reykjavik. This athletic tradition has taken place every year since 1984 and is organized by the Reykjavik Sports Association, which is a union of sports clubs in the city. The event is scheduled for late August and coincides with the Reykjavik Culture Night, a significant celebration in Iceland.
Participants can choose from four different distances designed to accommodate various age groups. The race emphasizes a community atmosphere where participants have the opportunity to support various charities through their involvement.
The event offers two types of registration categories:
- Competition tickets
- General tickets
The course is located within the central area of the capital city. Historical records for the race dating back to 1984 are maintained, including age group records and overall best times. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
