Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon
The Islandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon is the largest running event in Iceland. The race takes place in the capital city and features a course certified according to AIMS measurement standards. Participants can choose between different distances and two types of registration categories.
The available distances for this event include:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 10 km
- Fun Run
Participants can register with a general ticket or a competition ticket. The general ticket allows runners to participate without competing for prizes, and these results are not certified by the Icelandic Athletic Federation (FRÍ). The competition ticket is designed for those wishing to compete for prizes and includes certification of results by FRÍ. These certified times can be used for registration in other competitive races abroad. Prizes are awarded to the first three runners in each distance and the first runner in each age category within the competition group.
All participants receive a race number, a timing chip, on-course services, and a medal upon finishing. Entries also include one free admittance to the geothermal baths and pools in Reykjavik on the day of the race or the following day. Pacers are available on the course to assist runners. Timing services conclude in the mid-afternoon, and participants must start in their assigned heats to avoid disqualification. Facilities such as an information center and bag storage are provided at the event site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
