Event overview
The Resolution Run is a New Year event at Magnuson Park in Seattle that combines a 5K run/walk with an optional Polar Bear Dive into Lake Washington and a kids dash. The finish festival includes a free chili feed, hot chocolate, apple cider and coffee, a beer garden for those 21 and over, divisional prizes, and participant apparel or a medal (limited stock). The Polar Plunge is located just before the finish line; changing tents are available for participants. Results for the polar plunge and the dry 5K are scored separately.

The course starts at the Magnuson Park Boat Launch and is mostly flat with a total elevation gain of 81 feet and one small hill around 1.2 miles. The surface is a mix of asphalt and gravel. Packet pickup is available in the days before the event at Super Jock N Jill Green Lake, with additional morning-of pickup at the event location. Entry fees vary by registration date, with lower pre-registration rates and a higher day-of race fee; the kids dash is free (youth shirt available for purchase). Proceeds support Club Northwest, a nonprofit that develops track and field, cross country, and road racing in the Seattle area.
