Reservoir Ramble, Prairie Creek Reservoir
Reservoir Ramble is a family-centered adventure race taking place at Prairie Creek Reservoir in Muncie, Indiana on September 20, 2026. Teams navigate with map and compass only; the use of GPS devices is not allowed.
The event combines hiking, mountain biking, and canoeing as participants locate optional checkpoints marked by flags. Teams record found checkpoints by punching a card. Checkpoints have no required minimums and teams may skip any they choose. The race includes mental puzzles and team challenges related to orienteering.
Entries include canoe rental. The standard registration fee is $100 and participants 17 and under may race for free. Every registrant must pay a daily USARA membership fee because the event is sanctioned by USARA.
Race rules require teams to stay within seeing or shouting distance of one another and to follow local laws for pedestrians and bicycles. Once a canoe is returned to the starting beach, the team may not reenter the water. Bike travel is allowed only on designated roads shown on race maps and participants are asked to follow Leave No Trace principles. Course resources available for participants include a mountain bike trails map and a Prairie Creek topographic map. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
