Reservoir Ramble 2026
The Reservoir Ramble is an adventure race held at Prairie Creek Reservoir in Muncie, Indiana. This event is a multi-discipline scavenger hunt where teams navigate using only a map and compass to find hidden orange and white flags, known as checkpoints. Participants have a four-hour window to collect as many points as possible, with all checkpoints being optional to allow for a flexible experience.
The event features three primary modes of travel:
- Trekking: Hiking through trails and natural terrain.
- Canoeing: Paddling across the reservoir. Canoe rentals, paddles, and life jackets are included with registration, though participants may bring their own equipment.
- Mountain Biking: An optional section featuring a mix of single track, gravel, and road. This portion is accessed via the canoe section.
The race is sanctioned by the USARA and emphasizes navigation over speed. Use of GPS devices or pedometers is strictly prohibited. Teams consist of one to four members and must remain within 100 feet of each other throughout the course. Participants are expected to be self-sufficient, carrying their own water, food, and required safety gear such as a first aid kit and emergency whistle.
In addition to navigation, the event includes mystery challenges involving mental puzzles and physical team tasks related to orienteering. Various award divisions are available, including solo categories, gender-specific teams, and family divisions for those racing with children.
