Redwood (Summer) Trail Run
The Redwood (Summer) Trail Run takes place in Oakland, California, within the Redwood Regional Park. The event utilizes the East Ridge, West Ridge, Stream, and Bridle trails, offering participants views of tall redwoods and the surrounding landscape. The courses consist primarly of dirt roads and single-track trails, with minimal asphalt sections.
Participants can choose from several distances:
- 50K
- Marathon
- 30K
- Half Marathon
- 5 mile
- Kid's Run (50 yard dash for ages 6 and younger)
The event is cupless to reduce waste. Runners are responsible for bringing their own hydration containers, though aid stations are located every 5 to 6 miles. These stations provide water, electrolyte drinks, fruit, and snacks. For the longer distances such as the 30K, Marathon, and 50K, a drop bag area is available at the start and finish line.
The courses are color-coded with ribbons and specific flagging to indicate turns. Timing is conducted using electronic tags, and results are updated regularly throughout the day. All pre-registered participants receive a shirt, and all finishers receive a medal. Additional awards are provided for top overall finishers and age group winners.
