Rediscover YOUR Light 5K Run+Walk
The Starr Institute hosts the Rediscover YOUR Light 5K Run+Walk, an event that raises awareness of child sexual abuse and exploitation and promotes prevention. The event week runs from 11/08/2026 to 11/14/2026 and includes both an in-person and a virtual participation option.
The in-person 5K takes place at Miramar Regional Park, 16801 Miramar Pkwy, Miramar, FL 33027. The virtual 5K can be completed from any location during the event week. The registration fee for each participation option is $35 and registration opens on 04/13/2026. Registration closes for the virtual 5K on 11/12/2026 and for the in-person 5K on 11/14/2026. Per Miramar Regional Park rules, dogs are not allowed at the in-person event.
The event has a multi-year history: over the past eight years about 900 people from 34 states and three countries have taken part. For this year the organizer has stated participation goals of 200 in-person participants and 100 virtual participants, and to add representation from an additional state and an additional country. At the in-person event the first 65 finishers will receive a commemorative medal.
