ReDiscover YOUR Light 5K Run+Walk
Hosted by The Starr Institute, the ReDiscover YOUR Light 5K Run+Walk is an annual event that focuses on awareness of child sexual abuse and exploitation and on prevention efforts. The event brings together youth, families, and community members for a week of virtual participation and a community gathering in Miramar, Florida.
There are two participation options. The virtual option runs November 8 through November 14, 2026 and includes a virtual race bib and a T‑shirt; participants complete a 3.1 mile route from any location. The in person event takes place November 14, 2026 at Miramar Regional Park, 16801 Miramar Pkwy, Miramar, FL 33027. Dogs are not allowed at the in person event per Miramar Regional Park rules. The registration fee for both formats is $35.00. Registration opens April 13, 2026 and closes November 14, 2026. The first 65 in person finishers receive a commemorative medal.
Historically, the event has drawn more than 900 participants across 34 states and 3 countries over eight years. Organizers listed 2026 goals of 200 in person participants, 100 virtual participants, and expansion by one new state and one new country.
