Course, services, and awards
The course is on OWBC’s rugged, 600 acre forested property in the hills of southeast Ohio. The trail passes primitive campsites (the 10K goes through two, the 5K through one), crosses a 68 ft suspension bridge named "Nehemiah", and includes large boulders and springtime Redbud and Dogwood blossoms. The 10K has over 1,700 ft of elevation gain and is approximately 40% technical single track and 60% old logging trails.
There are three refreshment and first-aid stations on the 10K and two on the 5K. Pre-race food and drinks are available. Lunch is generally served after the event and typically includes grilled hamburgers, baked beans, potato salad, cookies, and ice cream. An award ceremony recognizes the top two finishers in each race by male and female categories for ages 40+, 39–17, and 16 and under. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
