Event Overview

The Redbud Trail Challenge is a trail run and hike held on a 600-acre forested property in the hills of Southeast Ohio. The event takes place on the grounds of a wilderness camp and follows a route through rugged terrain characterized by springtime blossoms, including Redbud and Dogwood trees, as well as large boulders.

Course Details

The event features a 10K run-only course and a 5K run or walk option. The 10K course is technical and consists of approximately 40% single track and 60% logging trails, with more than 1,700 feet of elevation gain. Participants on the 10K route pass through two primitive campsites, while those on the 5K route pass through one. Both distances features a crossing of the 68-foot "Nehemiah" suspension bridge.

Distances

  • 5K: A route available for both runners and walkers.
  • 10K: A technical trail run limited to runners only.

Facilities and Support

Refreshment and first aid stations are positioned along the trails, with three stations located on the 10K route and two on the 5K route. Pre-race refreshments are available, and a post-race meal is served featuring items such as grilled hamburgers, baked beans, potato salad, cookies, and ice cream.

Recognition and Awards

An award ceremony follows the event. Recognition is given to the top two finishers in both the 5K and 10K events across three age categories: 16 and under, 17-39, and 40+. Awards are provided for both male and female categories. Proceeds from the registration fees support the Ohio Wilderness Boys Camp. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
