Event Overview
Red White & Ruck Nash is a ruck march charity event. A "ruck" is defined as walking while carrying weight. The event takes place at Castle Park on New Castle Road in Arrington, Tennessee.
Event Details
The activity is a 2-hour time trial on a closed-loop course. Participants walk a loop of approximately 0.75 miles. The format is flexible: participants can complete as many or as few laps as they prefer within the time limit. Individuals can participate solo or in relay teams of 2, 3, or 4 people.
Participation Categories
Participants can join in different categories:
- No Weight (Honorary): Non-competitive walking without a weighted pack.
- Light: Carrying a ruck or weighted vest of 20 pounds or more.
- Heavy: Carrying a ruck or weighted vest of 35 pounds or more.
Charitable Purpose
The event is organized by the non-profit Memories of Honor. Its primary purpose is to unite the military community, Gold Star and Blue Star families, and civilians to honor fallen service members. Each participant receives a bib with the name of a fallen service member to ruck in their honor. Event proceeds support the organization's Enduring Heroes Program, which funds an annual active retreat for Gold Star families.
On-Site Details
The event is described as family and spectator-friendly. Participants are welcome to bring personal coolers, chairs, and weighted-down pop-up tents. There is a staging area for checking in after each lap and for teammates to tag off during relays. Water and snacks are provided. An award is given for the best Renaissance-themed costume.
