About the race
The Red Kiwi 2x2 Relay is a team orienteering event held in Waitarere as part of the club's 50th birthday celebrations on 15 November 2026. Teams consist of two people; each team member runs two legs. Winning times on individual legs are expected to be about 25 to 30 minutes. Each team runs a pair of courses first on the Prickly Sands map and then through the Waitarere village.
Registration is through Enter'o; entries close at midnight on 8 November and individual entrants without a partner will be paired with someone on the day. The scheduled date was postponed from 8 November. There are multiple course grades and combined distances: - M20-39 Orange-Red 3.4 + 3.5 km - M18, M40-49, W20-39 Orange-Red 2.8 + 2.9 km - M16, M50-59, W18, W40-49 Orange-Red 2.4 + 2.6 km - M60-69, W16, W50-59 Orange-Red 2.1 + 2.4 km - M70+, W60-69 Orange-Red 1.9 + 2.3 km - M14, W14, W70+ Orange-Red 1.6 + 1.9 km - M12, W12 Yellow 1.8 + 1.6 km A special on-the-day White course will be available for M10 and W10. After the relay there will be a barbecue and party at the domain near the Scout Hall, a Retro O costume competition, and prize awards across several categories including overall places, age-group teams, mixed teams, and best Retro O outfit.
