Real Ale Ramble
The Real Ale Ramble takes place on 21st and 22nd November 2026 and is held annually in conjunction with the ten-day Mid-Wales Beer Festival. The town has three hostelries but few countryside pubs, so checkpoints along the routes provide beer stops where walkers can sample Welsh real ales.
The event is non-competitive and is a qualifying event towards the award scheme promoted by the International Federation of Popular Sports through the British Walking Federation. Certificates of completion are available for all participants.
The Ramble begins from the Town Square and follows waymarked routes of varying length:
- 8 miles
- 12 miles
- 20 miles
There are two or three checkpoints along the routes. A choice of Welsh real ales is provided at checkpoints in exchange for beer tokens issued at walk registration.
Entry fees are stated as £12 for one day or £20 for both days when entered online; online entries close seven days before the event. On-the-day entry is £15 for one day or £25 for both days. There is free live music in the pubs on Friday and Saturday evening during the festival period. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
