Rattlerock Ultra
The Rattlerock Ultra is held in Coopers Rock State Forest. It offers a 50k and a 25k distance, both run on rocky, technical trails. The 50k distance has almost 6,000 feet of elevation gain.
The course consists of a 7.9+ mile loop. Runners complete this loop four times for the 50k and two times for the 25k. The route includes technical sections with boulders, trails through rhododendron thickets, stream crossings, wooden bridges, gravel road sections, a reservoir, and open meadows.
There is a cutoff time of 9.5 hours. The course is marked extensively. For the 50k, there are eight aid stations; for the 25k, there are four. Parking is free. Packet pickup is scheduled for the evening before the event. Post-race food includes pizza.
The top three male and top three female finishers receive a Rattlerock running hat. Other runners can purchase one. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
