Rasselbock Backyard Ultra: Sherwood Pines 2027
The Rasselbock Backyard Ultra at Sherwood Pines Forest Park is a last person standing race scheduled for 27 March 2027 during the Easter holidays. Runners repeat a measured loop and must begin a new lap at the start of each hour; the event ends when only one runner remains able to start another lap.
The official route is 4.19 miles (6.74 km) and runs through forest trails, singletrack and access roads with a mix of natural woodland and gravel surfaces. Competitors are expected to complete each loop within the hour, remain inside the starting corral when the bell rings, and follow the event rules on assistance and equipment. No personal aid is allowed while on a lap and artificial aids such as trekking poles are not permitted.
On course support includes an aid station stocked with water, squash, hot water, sweets and fruit, dedicated first aiders, an area for support crews and tents, free parking for one vehicle, full chip timing with live results, and an event live stream. Entrants receive a unique DNF memento. The winner receives a trophy and a free entry to one of the next two editions; record breakers may also receive a free entry. Organiser policies state no refunds after 14 days from sign up, name transfers are permitted with an added fee, and a waiting list is used once the event is sold out.
