Rare to Real: The Run
Rare to Real: The Run is a one-time road race in Rathcoffey, County Kildare, held to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society and Breakthrough Cancer Research. The event was created after a participant's cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment and recovery, and aims to bring people together in support of cancer research and services.
The event features two measured road distances:
- 5K
- 10K
Both routes are AAI-measured, with start and finish at Rathcoffey GAA and a course on the roads around Rathcoffey. Race amenities include limited T-shirts available on the day, a finisher’s medal for all participants, a bag drop area, parking at Rathcoffey GAA, and toilet facilities. Post-race refreshments will be served in the hall, including sandwiches, tea and coffee.
Prize structure is offered separately for male and female categories. For the 10K first prize is €100, second prize €50, third prize €30. For the 5K first prize is €50, second prize €30, third prize €20. Entry fees are listed as €25 for the 10K and €20 for the 5K. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
