Raquette River Event Overview
The Raquette River Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k take place in Potsdam, New York. The courses follow River Road along the scenic Raquette River, starting and finishing at the Pine Street Arena. The route consists of rolling hills and includes specific road surfaces measured for accuracy.
The marathon distance is a USATF certified course, which serves as a Boston Marathon qualifier. Participants can choose from four distinct distances:
- Marathon: 26.2 miles on a certified loop that serves as a Boston qualifier.
- Half Marathon: 13.1 miles following the river route with designated turnaround points.
- 10k: A 6.2 mile run starting and ending at the arena.
- 5k Fun Run: A 3.1 mile course for runners and walkers.
Participant Amenities and Logistics
The event provides logistical support throughout the course, including water and sports drink stations positioned every 1.5 miles. Restroom facilities are available at the start and finish lines, with portable toilets located near the turnaround points for the half marathon and marathon.
Registered athletes receive a swag bag containing a race bib, pins, a t-shirt, and various food items such as granola and fruit. The venue at Pine Street Arena offers parking for participants. On-site food vendors and concessions are available throughout the day.
Awards and Recognition
Finisher medals are awarded to all participants completing the marathon and half marathon. The event recognizes the top three male and female finishers in various categories with podium awards. Cash prizes are planned for top finishers in the marathon and have previously been offered for the half marathon as well.
