Event overview

The Ranger Ruck is an annual ruck, run, and walk event held in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, each September. The main route is 6.1 miles (10K). Participants may choose to ruck with a weighted pack, run, or walk. The standard ruck weight is 35 pounds. Prizes are awarded to the top three finishers in the Ruck category and to the top three finishers in the Run/Walk category. A vendor fair follows the event. All participants receive an event t-shirt and a goody bag at packet pick-up.

Course and logistics

The route begins near the UWSP Marshfield Clinic Champions Hall and winds through Schmeeckle Reserve on an out-and-back course that includes two lake loops. The start and finish are located near Coleman Track. Packet pick-up is held on the morning of the event and a large printed course map is provided in participant packets. Cadets and university hockey players are positioned on course to assist with street crossings and route direction.

Purpose and fundraising

Proceeds and fundraising from the event support cadet activities and team-building events, including participation in events such as the Army Ten Miler and the Bataan Death March. The event has included raffle prizes in the past, for example an autographed Green Bay Packers football. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
