The event is planned near the Depot and Tunnel area on East Church and Railroad Streets, but the course may move to Barnesville High School if tunnel repairs are not completed. A decision was expected by May 1.
Multiple divisions are offered including a standard 5k Run, a Clydesdale Lady Athena 5k Run with weight certification and restricted award eligibility, competitive 5k Walk divisions, a K9 Team Walk with specific dog rules, a Hand Cyclist Wheelchair division for wheeled athletes, and a free Kids Fun Run of about 200 yards.
Awards and entries: organizers list nearly 150 trophies distributed across divisions such as Masters in both Run and Walk, a dog walking division, a hand cyclist wheelchair division, and many age groups. Most events carry a registration fee of $27 and the Kids Fun Run is free. The first 200 registrants are guaranteed a tech shirt with sizes guaranteed to early bird preregistrants; beyond that shirts are first come first serve and may be reordered if numbers dictate.
Rules and amenities: Competitive walks require one foot on the ground at all times with violations subject to disqualification without refund. K9 Team Walk rules include leash use ID tags current vaccinations and expectations for non aggressive dogs and cleanup. Food options are available including pizza subs sandwiches cookies and pasta salad. Door prizes are offered and the field is approximately 200 participants.
