Rail-Trail Duathlon
The Rail-Trail Duathlon takes place in Shonto, Arizona on June 20, 2026. Organized by the nonprofit NavajoYES, the event is a combined biking and trail running course on a rail trail that parallels the Black Mesa and Lake Powell rail bed. The total distance is 26 miles and the course is run in sequential bike and run segments.

Registration is handled online and the published entry fees are $60 for adults and $10 for participants 18 and under. Registered participants receive an event t shirt, a Rail-Trail tower and sticker, course support, portable toilets, live music and a community fun run.
Aid stations on course will include Honey Stinger energy gels, salty and sweet snacks, fresh fruit, Gatorade and water. The course may be revised by organizers or local leaders and alternative routes may be used in adverse weather.
Event information notes that summertime conditions can be warm and that thunderstorms are possible. Raingear and appropriate footwear may be needed for muddy surfaces. Aid stations will provide fluids, but participants are expected to plan for personal hydration needs.
