Rage in the Sage Duathlon

Location and Format
The Rage in the Sage Duathlon takes place at Kiona Vineyards and Winery in Benton City. The event is a sanctioned USA Triathlon (USAT) race, so a USAT license is required for all participants. Registration is online only, with no race day registration. The athlete limit is 300 individuals.
Course and Events
The duathlon consists of a run, bike, and run sequence. The first leg is a 2.5 mile cross-country run on gravel and dirt roads around the vineyard. The cycling leg is 10 miles on dirt roads through Kiona and neighboring KS Vineyards, before returning via Artz and Sunset Roads to the transition area. The race finishes with a repeat of the initial run.

Special Equipment Rules
For the main competition, only mountain bikes are eligible for overall and age group awards. The rules specify mountain bike frames with 26-29 inch wheels and tires at least 1.5 inches wide with a knobby pattern covering more than 50% of the surface. A separate gravel bike division also exists, with its own awards.
Registration and Logistics
The early registration fee is $45 until April 20, 2026, after which it increases to $60. Members of the 3RRR club receive a discount if registered by that date. Online registration closes on April 28. There are no refunds or transfers. Packet pickup is available the day before at Atomic Ale Brewpub in Richland, or on race morning at the venue. Chip timing is used, and a tech shirt is available for an additional fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
