Event overview
The Race to the Cave Half Marathon, 10K & 5K is scheduled for Sat February 28 - Sun March 1, 2026 at Cathedral Caverns State Park, 637 Cave Rd, Woodville, AL 35776. The event includes single-distance races and combined-day challenges. Registration prices are shown on the event page and increase after December 31, 2025. The event organizer provides race shirts and finisher medals; shirt sizing is guaranteed for entries completed before December 26, 2025. There are no refunds, credits, deferrals, or family/friend transfers for entries. Unclaimed shirts and medals are not mailed.

Course and logistics
Races start on valley roads and finish with a roughly 1.2 mile run through Cathedral Caverns; GPS devices do not reliably record inside the cave. Cutoff times are: half marathon - 4 hours, 10K - 2.5 hours, 5K - 1 hour 15 minutes. Aid stations will offer water, Gatorade, and GU gels; locations are listed for each course (10K: 2.2, 4.3 miles; half: 2.2, 5.5, 8.2, 11.2 miles). Portable bathrooms are placed on course and additional restrooms are available at the park store finish area.
Packet pickup is available in Huntsville at the RunningLane location before race weekend and at Cathedral Caverns during the race weekend. Age-group awards are provided for the half marathon and 10K in standard decade categories; all finishers receive a medal. After the race, participants receive a pulled pork barbecue sandwich, chips and a drink. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
