Race to the Cave Half Marathon, 10K and 5K
The Race to the Cave weekend is scheduled for Saturday February 28 to Sunday March 1, 2026 at Cathedral Caverns State Park, 637 Cave Rd, Woodville, AL 35776. The event is organized across two days and features several race options.

The course begins on local roads in a valley and finishes with about 1.2 miles run inside Cathedral Caverns. GPS devices do not register distance while inside the cave. Published cutoff times apply for each distance. Aid stations will supply water, sports drink and energy gels. Portable bathrooms are positioned along the course and the park store has restroom facilities at the finish.
Shirts and awards follow the event schedule: long sleeve technical shirts are provided for 10K and half marathon participants, while 5K registrants on Saturday receive t shirts. Challenge entrants receive both shirt types and different finisher medals for each day. Participants registered before December 26, 2025 are guaranteed correct shirt sizing. Age group awards are listed for the half marathon and 10K in standard decade categories. All finishers receive a finisher medal.
Packet pickup occurs at RunningLane in Huntsville on the days before the event and at Cathedral Caverns on race mornings. There are no refunds or transfers and leftover shirts or medals are not mailed. After the race each participant will receive a pulled pork barbecue sandwich, chips and a drink.
