Race the Wolf - Schweitzer Mountain, Sandpoint, ID
Race the Wolf is a two day mountain trail event held June 20-21, 2026 at Schweitzer Mountain Resort in Sandpoint, Idaho. Courses run through subalpine forest and along ridge tops with views that extend toward Canada and Montana. The 2026 program includes new marathon and half marathon courses.
Courses are well marked and supported with multiple aid stations and restroom access along the routes. Surfaces include rocky two-track access roads, singletrack trails that range from mixed loose rock to smoother banked turns rated difficulty grade blue, and an off-trail uphill route used for the Sky Climb. Poles may help on steep uphill sections but are not required.
All distances start and finish near the clock tower in Schweitzer Village. Parking is provided in the Gateway Lot a short walk from the start area. Resort lodging is available with a 20 percent discount for the weekend of June 19-22, 2026. Camping is limited to self-contained RVs and trailers at the Schweitzer fire station parking lot; tent camping is not permitted.
Races are held rain or shine and participants are responsible for their wellbeing under changing mountain weather. Wildlife is present on course; organizers note moose and black bears may occur. Awards include custom technical shirts, top overall and age group prizes by chip time, and an Alpha Wolf recognition for completing any two races over the weekend.
